Last friday Apple release the iPhone. As I see, it is the first mobile phone to organize and easy mobile calls and tasks. It is not surprising that 700,000 iPhone units have been sold in four days. I think that, by now, Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer is not laughint at iPhone anymore…

During the prerelease phase of iPhone, the big question is if Apple would open the development of iPhone applications to third parties and as we saw, Apple released a “sweet” solution of allowing the development of applications thru the web, in fact, web sites that can pose as real applications.

Thinking about that 2 weeks ago, I have come with the idea of developing the first search engine for iPhone related applications. My goal is to always have the largest database of applications as possible and to make it light and fast. The result was AddFone (www.addfone.com).

Since the release, AddFone has been a huge success (thanks to all our visitors and specially to Christopher Allen, who has pointed a flaw on the code that was voiding the site to render correctly on the iPhone (yes, I am developing for the iPhone without having one, cause I live in Europe and there’s no sign of the iPhone here…).

Today, 10 days after launch and 4 days after iPhone launch, AddFone has the largest database of iPhone applications (116 applications) -  50% more applications than the second site with the largest list of iPhone applications on the web - and is growing fast!
AddFone was mentioned in several of the biggest sites around, as GigaOM, and has a projection of about 100,000 visits for july.

Using AddFone, users can search for applications thru their URL, titles, descriptions and tags or add their own links to the engine, that are available after 2 or 3 hours (or less) to avoid spam.So, if you are developing web applications for the iPhone, don’t forget to add your links to the first search engine of iPhone related applications: AddFone.
