External Subtitles not loading in Perian
Perian is the plugin that allows QuickTime to play a different number of formats including showing SRT subtitles.
After trying to watch an AVI movie and not being able to see the external subtitles I discovered why the subtitles were not loading.
The movie I was trying to see was named with points in it, as
This.is.the.movie.avi
so was the subtitle.
The points in movie and subtitle file names were probably giving Perian a hard time trying to figure out the subtitle file extension, so it cannot see any SRT file available and won’t show it. Just remove any points on the movie and subtitle file names and the subtitles will show.
Just make sure to turn on subtitles preference on Quicktime and Load External Subtitles on Perian’s preferences.
