The object of desire shown on the last picture, is a HDTV monitor installed in Tokio and has just 67 meters (73 yards!). For who doesn’t have 36 million dollars (~28 million euros) to spend, the only solution is Radius 320, the monitor shown on the next picture — a combination of 3 screens —, produced by Seamless Display. |

by Magno Urbano NextEngine (.com) has just released a 3D scanner called Desktop 3D Scanner, capable of scanning real 3D objects and creating 3D models for major programs like (3DS Max, Rhino, RapidForm, Geomagic and others) à partir de objectos colocados na sua base.  The scanner uses a LASER matrix that gives a resolution of 1.2 mm (1/25 of an inch!). Another feature of the Desktop 3D Scanner is that it can capture also the texture of the object. David Pogue (New York Times) confirmed today, what we are saying during these last years in countless books and articles, that the number of pixels per inch (resolution) of a given device is not the more important issue of this equipment.
Last week, David Pogue show to hundreds of people in the streets of New York, three 60×40 cm (23×15 inches) printed images — taken with cameras with 13, 8 and 5 megapixels —, and ask them to point which images have the best quality.

ADS Tech (www.adstech.com) has just launched a device called InstantVideo To-Go, that seems to be a pen drive but, in fact, is a hardware accelerator for the creation of MPEG4 videos in H.264 (format used by iPod, PSP, some celular phones and PDA’s).
InstantVideo To-Go works thru an USB2 port and can render videos five times real time — up to 125 frames per second. According to ADS Tech, a 100 minutes video that normally would take 400 minutes to render can be produced in just 20 minutes using IntantVideo To-Go.
